What is a daith piercing?
A daith piercing is a cartilage piercing through the crus of the helix – the cartilage fold just above your tragus and ear canal. It’s a unique inner-ear placement which is commonly styled with a hoop to create a striking, orbital look.
What jewellery is compatible with a Daith piercing?
We always pierce the daith with a piercing hoop due to the natural curvature of the anatomy. At A&M, we have plenty of titanium and 14k solid gold daith hoops to choose from, from molten metal designs to sparkling lab-grown diamond styles. Either hand-pick your favourite in-store during your appointment or shop online for fully healed piercings.
Our favourite thing about daith jewellery is that it gives your piercing the attention it deserves.

What are the benefits of a Daith piercing?
It’s rumoured that daith piercings can help reduce migraines. The theory is that the piercing hits a specific pressure point in the ear that helps relieve symptoms. Although, sadly there is little to no scientific evidence to actually prove this. Most experts agree that any pain relief is simply down to the placebo effect.
That being said, the daith piercing still has the most important benefit of all – personalising and elevating your ear curation. What could top that?
How painful is a Daith piercing?
Cartilage piercings, including daith piercings, are generally considered to be more painful than lobe piercings because they push through thicker, denser bits of skin. That being said, everyone’s pain tolerance is different, so experiences can vary. Just remember, you’re in the best hands with our expert piercers, and you can always bring a family member or friend along for support.
What else do I need to know about Daith piercings?
Daith and the tragus piercings are the two placements most likely to interfere with earphones, as they sit directly next to the ear canal. We’d recommend avoiding earphones during the healing process as they can put pressure on the piercing jewellery leading to irritation. If a podcast-less walk sounds like your nightmare, consider adding some over ear headphones to your collection before booking in for these piercings.
How do I look after my new piercing?
To make sure your piercings heal properly, you’ll need to give them some love and care along the way. Healing time will vary person to person, but here are our top tips for a smooth aftercare process:
-
Clean your piercing with PierceMed Aftercare Solution twice a day until it is fully healed. You should do this for a minimum of 6-12 months for cartilage. Spray the front and back of your piercing and dry the area with a clean paper towel afterwards.
-
Outside of cleaning, try to avoid touching your piercing, and when you have to, always wash your hands.
-
Try to avoid sleeping on your piercing, as this can cause irritation.
-
Book in for a Piercing Aftercare & Curation appointment so your piercer can check in on your new piercing and give the area a gentle clean. Your piercer will also be able to answer any questions you have about your new or upcoming piercings.
-
Wait until your piercing has fully healed before changing the jewellery.
How long does a Daith piercing take to heal?
Daith piercings can take 12 months+ to heal. This might seem like a long time at first, but for a lifetime of your dream ear stack, it’s a small price to pay.
