Meet The Piercer

Introducing our piercer Bruna Fabbri.

How long have you been piercing for?

I have been piercing for 10 years and have worked for myself as well as multiple brands.

What made you want to start?

Ever since I can remember I have always loved piercings! I started getting pierced at a very young age and developed a strong interest and knowledge about all aspects of piercing, such as different types of jewellery, how each piercing heals, etc. It was definitely something I could see myself doing for a living and something that I have always pursue, it’s a true passion of mine. Plus, it's such a fun environment! I'm truly blessed to meet all sorts of people from many different backgrounds and cultures in my day to day life.

Tell us about your background in piercing?

When I was 18 years old I moved to the UK with my then boyfriend who happens to be a tattoo artist! I started studying and undertaking training in piercing and had so many lovely piercer friends who shared all their knowledge with me. I have owned my own studio and worked as a piercer for many brands, which have given me all the experience I have today.

What’s the first piercing you’ve ever got?

My first piercing (except my earlobes) was a helix piercing done with a piercing gun when I was 10 years old. Of course my parents didn't know about it until it was done! It's bad I know... I don't recommend this! Ha!

How does your technique differ from other piercers?

Over the years I realised that there's no right or wrong way as far as technique goes, each piercer has their own way of doing things. If the piercing placement is correct, the material being used is of great quality and the client follows the appropriate aftercare procedure, the piercing will be successful. All of the piercings at Astrid & Miyu will be done using the needle technique.

In my opinion what makes a piercer go from good to great is empathy. Piercing studios can be intimidating to some people and honestly, piercings are scary! In my reviews people always compliment me for being a fast, effective piercer and at the same time, being calm and putting them at ease. I am very nurturing as a person and I think that translates well to what I do with my clients.

What made you choose A&M to work with?

Sophie from the team reached out to me directly a few months ago about the super exciting concept and I decided to meet up with the team. Everyone was so lovely and welcoming! It was a no-brainer and we started planning straight away! As a piercer I prefer “pretty & dainty jewellery" and once I saw the beautiful collections at A&M I just knew that I wanted to be part of it. We are all super excited!

What’s the best aftercare for your piercing?

There are many different approaches for aftercare and I have a very comprehensive aftercare leaflet which I give to my clients but in short I like to recommend a mild saline solution - 250ml of warm filtered water + 1/4 of a teaspoon of sea salt - soak a cotton pad in saline solution and place it on the piercing for 5 mins followed by a water rinse. Repeat 2x a day for 4 weeks. Needless to say, your hands should be clean before starting this procedure! And please, do not touch a fresh piercing. Also, I'd like to point out that this solution is being used only to keep the piercing clean, the body heals itself, so the healthier you are, the quicker your piercings will heal up.
